Korean International Circuit

South Korea

2010 was an extraordinary year for sport in South Korean. The country hosted the Formula 1 for the first time in its history. Motor racing finally reached the Far East for good. The Korean International Circuit continues the successful expansion of Tilke-Projects into Asia following Abu Dhabi and Singapore, offering several distinctive features.

Smart Fusion of Racetrack and Infrastructure

On request of the client, the Korean Auto Valley Operation, our team of experts designed the Korean International Circuit with an adjustable racetrack route. The 5.6km long Formula 1 racetrack adheres to all criteria of the FIA Homologation for category 1. The original design routed the race track along the water through residential areas so that as many citizens of Yeongam as possible are able to witness the racing action up close. 18 curves, an average speed of 180km/h and the very modern setting make the circuit of Yeongam a truly unique experience. First and foremost, this holds for Sebastian Vettel as the Heppenheimer was able to win three out of four F1 races that were carried out at the Korean International Circuit between 2010 and 2013.
